Inter City Firm

The Inter City Firm sometimes referred to as ICF is a football firm which is linked with West Ham United Football Club which was mainly active during the 70s, 80s and early 90s. The name was derived from the InterCity trains to travel to their away game.

The firm formed out of a number of different groups at the time, including Mile End Boys and Essex East London Firm.

In 1985 Thames Television produced a documentary called Hooligan which featured the Inter City Firm.

Cass Penant

Cass Penant is the most well known figure to evolve from the Inter City Firm, he has written many books and was the subject of his own movie Cass.

The story of Cass Penant is remarkable given the prominent racism that took place within football in the 70’s and 80’s.

Cass managed to rise to the top of the Inter City Firm and become one of the generals of the ICF despite being black and fighting all of the prevalent racism that took place within the time period.
