moss rose macclesfieldMoss Rose, home to Macclesfield Town has a capacity of 6,335, with seating for 2,600.

The ground comprises 4 stands. The Silk FM stand (traditionally known as the London Road stand) runs along one side of the pitch. It houses home supporters, unless the travelling support is very large, in which case the right-hand side of this stand houses some away fans.

There is terracing along the entire length of the pitch, with a small stand at the back of the terracing. The A-Line End (traditionally known as the Star Lane End) is to the left of the Silk FM stand, and is used by the home fans.

Opposite the Silkman FM stand is the McAlpine Stand. This is all-seated and covered, and houses home supporters, along with a small number of travelling fans. At the opposite end to the A-Line End is the Silkman End, which is an open terrace given to away fans.

The club has plans to introduce some seating at the back of the Silkman End and build a leisure complex and hotel behind it, but the timescale for this development is unknown.

What have other Away Fans said about their trip?

away fans macclesfieldGiven the choice, visiting fans opt for the seating in the McAlpine Stand over the open terracing of the Silkman End, especially considering Macclesfield’s propensity for wet weather. The view of the playing action and the atmosphere within the ground are both reportedly good, with some enjoyable banter between the two sets of supporters. Catering and toilet facilities are reported excellent. Stewarding seems relaxed and the consensus seems to be that Macclesfield is a hassle-free, enjoyable day out.

Always enjoy my trips down the road… Find the majority of home fans quite friendly.. Local pubs also friendly too.
The views of the playing area are great… No hinderences at all.
Love the Golden Lion pub… Always got a friendly welcome there….
The main drag away from the ground casn be a nightmare after the game… but not too bad in general…

Came to watch Maccesfield v Shrewsbury with a Shrewsbury fan, on arrival I have to admit from the outside the ground , It looks like a non league ground. After a few pints in the Golden Lion we arrived at the open away end & made are way in onto the terrace. Apart from the newest stand down the side, the other 3 sides are not the best, though i like the character of the ground it felt like a proper local clubs ground, which are being lost & demolished all over the country. I hope this one stays.
The home fans are very quite, only heard one song from them.
The attendance was 2100, which 918 came from Shrewsbury. it is a shame only 1200 people from Maccesfield came to see them as a couple of months earlier Maccesfield played Chelsea away in the FA cup & took 9000??
