I've just been to Anfield, I'll share my thoughts here.
Atmosphere was immense, but that's probably due to the rivalry between two teams. If your club does not have rivalry with Liverpool FC, you might end up disappointed.
I found legroom shocking. I stood up for 90 minutes but before KO and at HT I felt really uncomfortable (and I'm not even that tall).

Been to the last 4 games at anfield including the fa cup this weekend 28/1/12. Best advice I can give especially to utd fans is park at goodison for £10. There is a pub just round the corner called the spellow or go to crofts social club on city road. (be full of reds) It's about 2 minute walk from the car park. As for anfield road lower where utd will be stood be prepared for coins/bottles of urine coming over!! What else would you expect from them!! Also the atmosphere is dyer but saying that it's no different at old trafford and most home grounds now.

In my previous life as a Liverpool fan I've been to Anfield many hundreds of times and it was interesting to return after more than 15 years away. We travelled by train and walked from Kirkdale station. Opposite the station, along the railway is the recommended Melrose Abbey pub but these days it's best avoided. The pub was empty when we entered and and there was no real ale on offer so we walked on... Well, when in Rome and all that. We went into a couple of other pubs along the way but were refused drinks on one occasion my 16-year old nephew was given as the reason and on the other the landlady said they had no beer????!!!! We were pretty sure both were excuses because of our colours. We walked through Stanley Park to Anfield and attracted no interest whatsoever from locals. By the time we got there The Arkles was jammed packed so our plan for a pre-match drink failed miserably. We took a walk around the ground and bought a couple of badges and again attracted no attention from anyone.
.
Anfield was buzzing outside but strangely quiet inside. You got the distinct feeling that the Liverpool fans expected to win easily and couldn't be bothered to sing much. Like they were bored and jaded. Anfield is still a great stadium. The view of the pitch is completely open but crowd could have given it a bit more welly. Liverpool should have won easily but only managed one goal and after Norwich equalised the game could have gone either way. The Norwich support acted as a 12th man and that was always the Kop's job. We had a pie and a drink inside the ground but it was distinctly average. I've had much better at Hartlepool, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield this season. Liverpool might be a Premiership team but the catering is still 1970s Football League.

Been to Anfield many times and i have not experienced the friendly home fans described.

I enjoy Anfield as it is always a good atmosphere when United are there and it is an old traditional ground.

Best to park on Stanley Park for both Liverpool and everton £8

Exited the coach opposite the Arkles pub, had a quick wander around the area, a fantastic welcome from Liverpool fans milling around, went into Arkles drinking and singing alongside the home fans with a great atmosphere, walked to the food village behind the anfield road end, again eating and drinking with our hosts, Scousers were stopping us on the street and welcoming us to Liverpool, "great touch", easy entry into ground, stewards were very welcoming and helpful, prices average for a decent pie and a pint, decent view from our seats, Swansea fans were in good voice, a good 0-0 draw with Carrol hitting the bar and Gower missing a great chance for Swans, seems that Liverpool fans struggled to get the famous noise going, both sets of fans applauded each other at the final whistle, once out of the ground and en-route the the coaches Liverpool fans shaking our hands and congratulating us on our performance, fantastic people, great stadium, one of the best away trips i've done. Thanks Liverpool Fans!!

I went last night for the Liverpool-Stoke City game. Finding the stadium is easy via the M62 and the A5058. There are signs for "football grounds" starting immediately in the A5058 and continuing the entire way. I parked off Townsend Ln right before the median ends and the lanes come together. For 5 quid in a gated lot, I was quite pleased. It's a bit of a walk to the grounds (about 15 minutes) by either Priory Rd or Walton Breck Rd.

I was a home/neutral supporter for this match and sat in the Main Stand in one of the restricted view seats. The #3 post was directly in the middle of the north goal, which made it very difficult to see the action at that end. The home fans were very friendly to me, and were all willing to fill an American in on the history of the club and ground, give tips on pubs in the area, tell stories about old matches, etc.

Everything is cramped in the grounds, though. The main stand concourses are narrow and tight. The food vendors are around corners in areas where queueing is all but impossible. Prices are pretty decent at about £2.50 for a pie and £3.20 for the lager. The stewards were friendly and eager to help me around the stadium. When struggling to get the whole field in a photograph, they recommended a good location to get a shot from.

Getting out of the area and back to Manchester too forever on the A580 and A5058 as the southbound lanes were jammed with game traffic. Maybe try Oakfield Rd, Shell Rd, and Prescott Rd instead? Prescott Rd pops out at the very end of the M62 so you can shoot right on there to get out of town.

You can review this ground in one sentance - full of outsiders. enough said. if all the irish, cockneys and other outsiders went and supported there own local teams anfield would be roaring with scousers again and bring back the 70's atmosphere. Heres a poll result. 97.45% of local liverpool fans would prefer anfield to be empty than have woolybacks from elsewhere in there. GO support ya local team and leave anfield to us

There was no atmoshpere as unfortunately nowadays Anfield is full of Foreigners and Wools who only create atmosphere for BIG games (United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton) Villa at home and it being absolutely freezing dont help unfortunately. I agree though the atmosphere has died really apart from the big games

Very dissapointed when I visited this ground... Even though we were awful and well beaten had a great time but the lack of atmosphere in anfield from the so called fantastic fans was non existant and the fancilities were very poor (apart from the Scouse Pie, lovely). Outside the ground thing were different and there are many pubs welcomed in away fans with home fans which I thought was fantastic. Its a ground I have alway wanted to visit given its great history but never again!
