Would have to agree with previous comments about the atmosphere, the wools have ruined it. Like most home ground in the premiership, Anfield isn't going to produce the atmosphere it once had in years gone by due to early kicks off, people being made to sit down etc. Would recomend away fans on the coaches to visit the flat iron/ arkles pubs, and fans on the train to get there bevy's at the Crown hotel or the weatherspoons, both are just outside lime street and i've seen away fans in there. Taxi's from town are about 6 quid. Hope that helps

been to anfield on several occasions, and in my opinion the stewards are the worst in the league (and i have been to every ground in the league) in the carling cup semi final last year city fans were held outside for 30 minutes whilst the game was on going and this was never explained why, the road the turnstiles are on is very small and minutes before the games ive been to there is often much pushing and shoving, slightly intimidating coming out/ going into the ground as the home and away turnstiles are right next to each other with very little police presence, stewards will hastle you all game to sit down which i have no complaints with but when those infront of you dont, well the stewards dont understand that you cant see. view isnt bad, no atmosphere from home fans that i saw, even when they had scored and were in the carling cup final

Coach up to Stanley Park - easy. Found the people in The Arkles pub fantastic and very friendly once we got in, very busy.
Sunk a few pints & sang a few songs.
The food court outside the Anfield Rd end is a terrific idea. No queues & beat the mobs of people trying to get food inside the ground.

Like some others above, I was disappointed with the atmosphere inside the ground, even though we were being pummelled! but I understand the club is followed by loads of (quiet?) tourists & not full of locals ( I was still bumping into hundreds of them at the Warwick services on my way home).
No leg room at all if you're over 6' tall but we wanted to stand anyway.

Good day out (bar the result). A real, old traditional stadium steeped in history. Hope to return some day

Not the best away ground it has to be said. Parking was easy enough, found a decent spot very near the ground at the expense of a tenner. The away section is half the lower tier in the Anfield Road end. It is very packed together, not a lot of leg room at all. Got a bang on my knee while celebrating RVP's first, hit the seat infront. I bought a coke for £2.20 at HT, which isn't such a bad price compared to the amount we have to cough up at the Grove for a drink. Terraces, like the stands, are very small and the fans are packed in tightly together, but, like the stands this builds for a good atmosphere. The Liverpool fans were atrocious. I don't have a clue why all the scousers bang on about 'having the best fans in the world', i didn't hear a peep from any of them except from when they went 1-0 up. The stewards were fine, we stood and sung our hearts out all match and they didn't say anything. I walked out of the ground with colours on and had absolutely no trouble with the Liverpool fans, probably the friendliest fans i've ever met on an away trip. Great result though as Van Persie bagged his second and the winner in injury time to send us all mental. Good day in all, although Liverpool could do with getting a new ground, as you can really tell this ones been around for ages.

Had my first visit to Anfield on Saturday for the Wigan Athletic game. Was disappointed with the view from the away end but found the ground to be OK - decent pint and pie !! Surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired - had a few beers in the Scales pub - decent enough pint although was a bit on the full side. Decent day all in all - made even better with a Wigan win. £7 taxi from Lime street station to Scales pub.

I went to anfield over a month ago, and I could honestly say it was a great away day! I am just a young 14 (13) year old lad,(so you do not have to take me seriously but am telling what I think about Liverpool away) but it was a late night kick off during the christmas holidays and me and my Dad took the car down. It was a 3 hour each way journey, with an addtiontial 20 minutes added when driving past manchester through rush hour, which left us worried for kick off, but after 15 minutes the traffic started moving quickly along the motorway. We took the A1 down, then came off at the M6 then drove from their through to Liverpool. I was wearing a newcastle top and scarf, but had them hidden by a jacket over the top, then took it off as I approached anfield road, but in all honesty that was completley un-nessacery! (spelling mistake) The majority of Liverpool fans are very friendly and "dead canny" people. However a few of them did give us some abuse in the ground, but you will get that with every set of fans. When driving to the ground, we found a social club that was offering £5 to park, in a safe looking carpark with a few other fans. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the ground, some friendly locals, could obviously tell we were away fans, but none the less gave us directions to the ground and were very helpfull! We managed to find a little burger van that did a burger and drink for about £3:50 just outside the ground, which was very handy. Anfield had a large police presence with many helpfull stewards in the away end. We got into the ground about 40 minutes before kick off, the toilet facilities are very clean and much better than the ones at St. James Park! The concourse was busy, but was big enough for everyone to have enough space to stand and move around abit, with the kiosk refusing to serve alchool but still had top notch catering with many foods and beverages on offer! Overall I would say Liverpool is a great away, I would reccomend it to anyone who likes a good atmopshere and some banter with the home and away fans! However the scouse accent does get annoying after a while!

I've just been to Anfield, I'll share my thoughts here.
Atmosphere was immense, but that's probably due to the rivalry between two teams. If your club does not have rivalry with Liverpool FC, you might end up disappointed.
I found legroom shocking. I stood up for 90 minutes but before KO and at HT I felt really uncomfortable (and I'm not even that tall).

Been to the last 4 games at anfield including the fa cup this weekend 28/1/12. Best advice I can give especially to utd fans is park at goodison for £10. There is a pub just round the corner called the spellow or go to crofts social club on city road. (be full of reds) It's about 2 minute walk from the car park. As for anfield road lower where utd will be stood be prepared for coins/bottles of urine coming over!! What else would you expect from them!! Also the atmosphere is dyer but saying that it's no different at old trafford and most home grounds now.
