What have other Away Fans said about their trip to the KC Stadium?

fans

Most visiting fans have been impressed with the KC Stadium, noting that its design is inventive and eye-catching and not nearly as bland as other new stadia. The majority of visiting fans have been more than satisfied with the facilities and view of play, though some have noted that the stands are set a good way back from the pitch.

The atmosphere within the ground has been reported as generally good, though undesirable elements within the home support slate the away fans throughout proceedings. The stadium has been designated a no standing area, which has apparently led to unpleasant altercations between stewards and away fans. One recurring complaint is that for high-profile games, the club will not serve alcohol to visiting fans.

KC Stadium History

Hull’s previous stadium, Boothferry Park, was replaced by MKM Stadium, formerly known as KCOM Stadium and KC Stadium. Early designs for a new stadium were created in the late 1990s, and construction work began in 2001. Hull City and Sunderland played there on December 18, 2002, to mark the stadium’s grand opening (1-0).

The city of Hull, who also owns the stadium, paid the £44 million construction cost of the MKM Stadium. The stadium can be easily expanded to hold roughly 30,000 people.

The stadium was known as KC Stadium between 2002 and 2016, however it was renamed KCOM Stadium after their sponsor, KC Group, changed its name to KCOM Group. In 2021, a new sponsorship agreement resulted in a name change once more, becoming MKM Stadium.
