Been to Ewood Park about a dozen times and it never grows old for me. Obviously being a Newcastle fan we don't always get the result we desire but aside from that it's a decent away. Unlike the Boltons and Wigans of this league, Ewood Park isn't in the middle of a shopping centre and feels like a traditional English ground.

The traffic is a nightmare getting up that bank towards the motorway but then this is the case at every ground in the country. Parked in the carpark outside the ground and the guy in the black & white striped jumper and Swag bag took £10 (TEN) to park. Slightly steep but what can you do?

The ground itself is canny. One stand to the right of the Darwen End (Away end) is older than the other 3 stands and seems to house the OAP's and fair weather fans. The atmosphere is, in a work, diabolical. Odd groups of teenage Blackburn fans shouting obscenities but that's all part and parcel.

The leg room at the seats is pretty tight (Maybe that's me being a fat Geordie) and have found myself with Darwen End shin everytime I've left from scraping against the chair of whoever's unfortunate enough to have me screaming in their ear for 90 minutes.

The beer's wet, which is all you want and only a few pence dearer than in the Fernhurst pub opposite the ground. Very little tribalism in Blackburn so not likely to encounter many idiots looking to spoil your trip.

I guess to summarise, it's a good away day and to make things better, they're a poor side now so you might see your club win.

Have to say the overall experiance wasent that great. Took ages to park because everywhere was blocked off. The one pub full of United fans didnt allow kids in and the match itself was a bore draw which cost us the title. There were hardly any Blackburn fans which was surprising seen as most teams at least manage a sell out when united come. The Rovers fans who were there celebrated a 0-0 draw like they had won the FA Cup. The police kept us in at the end (allthough not for long) . All the people on the street were selling United flags and scarves and there was hardley anywhere at all to get something to eat, not the best away trip ive been on.

went in the ferhurst before wolves game was charged £2 to enter the pub and had to wait about 15 minutes to get served although there was a bar outside the wait to get served was even longer would recomend going straight into the ground you get served easier and the price of a pint is only 10 pence dearer

As a Burnley fan not recommended for away trips. We set off from Turf Moor 3 hours before kick off and was ushered into the ground straight away.

Atmosphere was good from Burnley fans as it was a local derby, and we couldn't wait for kick off. I didn't buy anything because I didn't want to pump money into local rivals. Although I think a pint of Carlsberg was £2.80.

The atmosphere was electric at kick off and all the way through the game it continued. The game itself was dire from a Clarets perspective as we got beat 3-2. I was surprised at it being a local derby, the segregation wasn't brilliant, these are our main rivals and although there was a line of police dividing the two sets of supporters, one Blackburn fan could almost touch a fellow Burnley fan as he tried to cause trouble and he wasn't the only one. The Police didn't do alot to prevent this.

Our trip back was as boring as the game as we were locked in for another hour and then let out to go home.

12th Feb 2011, Ferhurst Pub, chocca block with Toon fans before the game, inside and out. Asked a steward at the ground where else to go for a drink. He pointed behind the McDonalds but said, "yer might not be very welcome though" Decided to go into the ground to watch the early kick off. That was boring. Grounds ok, bit old, but ok, severe lack of atmosphere in the home 3/4's due to the lack of support, but amongst the Toon fans fantastic atmosphere. At final whistle everybody just rushes off as quickly as possible. Plenty of cheap parking on Branch road to the south of the ground

Easy way to park for free the adjacent to the Golden Cup P.H. just off the Bolton Road (A666) When you come off the M65 follow the signs to Ewood Park you turn right at the 'T' Junction. Then first left after you go under the M65 with the Golden Cup P.H. to your right. It's a long road with roads off it too. Park a good hour before kick off as it is very popular. Also free parking at the Golden Cup if you have a drink there.

I wouldn't recommend parking on the Mc Donalds carpark opposite Ewood Park as David the Arsenal fan did,as clamping now takes place on match days.Nor would i recommend parking on nearby side roads as most are resident parking with badges and police monitor these during the game.
Their are numerous carparks on the small ind estates on Branch Rd and off Livsey Branch Rd,and on the large carpark opposite the Ewood Arms on Bolton Rd most charge £3-£4.
The Fernhurst on Bolton Rd is the traditional away fans pub which on match days has a marque on the carpark with outdoor bars and food outlets. There are several other eateries inc bakers and chinese take aways along Bolton Rd.Most other pubs are home fans only
.But the bars in the ground are open to away fans, unlike Villa, and the prices aren't to bad compared to other grounds and you can get one or two pint glasses, wine bottles or spirits.

I made the trip to Ewood park for the Arsenal away gave two years back.

The journey is lenghty, made all the worse by the M6 around Stoke, which always seems to be a major problem, but as per always with British motorway infrastructure, there is no logical explanation why!

We parked in a retail park, pretty much opposite the ground, in the McDonalds car park. Probably not to be advised but we got away with it. It was free, convenient and as we arrived at 2.50pm, was our only real option!

The ground itself is 'okay'. Atmosphere is good.

We didn't get a chance for pre match pint.

We ended up in a pub after, whose name eludes me, but if I recall correctly was close to the ground. It was friendly and welcoming without being packed to the walls.

We then went to the chinese takeaway for food afterwards, and ended up answering the telephone for them giving the locals banter!

A god day out, just be prepared for a lenghty drive!
