Barnet – Underhill

The Underhill Stadium was the smallest Football League ground in London, and home of Barnet FC from 1907 to 2013 before their relegation from the Football League and move the The Hive stadium from the 2013/14 season.

As well as being the home of Barnet FC, it is used for Arsenal reserve games. The ground is famous for its slope from North to South. Underhill has seven stands, giving a capacity of 5,570.

The club recently opened a new 1,000 seater South Stand at the bottom end of the ground, replacing a temporary structure which had stood for over 10 years. The East Terrace is split into three sections, with the home fans allocated the two southernmost parts and the remaining section allocated to away supporters. Adjacent to the East Terrace stands the North East Family Stand with covered seating for away supporters. The tiny North Terrace backs onto Westcombe Drive. The Main Stand is flanked by two smaller stands, the North West Terrace and Family Stand.

What have other Away Fans said about their trip?fans

The few reports available from visiting fans suggest that a trip to the Underhill Stadium is perhaps not one of the better days out in League Two. Visiting fans have received friendly welcomes at King John and Railway Bell pubs, which had both home and away supporters, though there was reportedly little interaction between rival fans. Some away fans have complained of lengthy queues to get into the ground, caused by only 2 turnstiles being in operation. These delays have resulted in some visitors missing as much as 20 minutes of the first half. Once inside the ground, fans report that there is little atmosphere, due to the poor acoustics.

The view of the pitch is poor, especially when the play is in the northeast corner. The toilets are small and dirty and there is only one burger bar serving food. Visitors from sides with a large away following report spending more time queuing for the toilets and food than watching the match. Some have reached the front of the burger bar queue to find it sold out. Despite good overall experiences, fans report the ground as one of the worst in League Two. While its age adds character, the general stadium condition is reported to be poor.
