recreation-ground-aldershot

The Recreation Ground, home of Aldershot Town FC has a capacity of 7,100, with seating for 2,000.

It is in a pleasant setting, with many trees visible on its perimeter, particularly at the High Street End, which is not used for spectators. The opposite East Bank is a covered terrace with numerous supporting pillars.

On the Northside of the ground is the Main Stand, dating from the late 1930s. Originally fully terraced, it has had seats added in the centre, with terracing remaining on both sides. The South Stand is another covered, seated stand, which straddles the halfway line.

What Have Other Away Fans Said About Their Trip?
fans

Away fans are housed in the South East corner of the ground, with limited covered seating in the South Stand. This stand is shared with home supporters and the dividing fence was moved prior to the 2008-09 season. Visiting fans report that this makes the away area very cramped in poor weather. However, the stand does allow the away fans to create an exciting atmosphere. Many away fans have complained of their view being obstructed by supporting pillars in the East Bank Terrace. The club has attempted to improve facilities for away supporters, but reports suggest they remain basic.

Another reported problem is that the away turnstiles cannot be accessed from the front of the ground on High Street, necessitating a 10-minute walk to Redan Road. The problem is exacerbated by long queues resulting from only 2 away turnstiles. However, most fans have noted that the ground has some character and overall their day at the Recreation Ground was enjoyable.
